Spiritual Heart- The Supreme Commander & The Inner Treasure
“The heart is a sanctuary at the center of which there is a little space wherein the Great Spirit dwells, and this is the Eye. This is the Eye of the Great Spirit by which He sees all things, and through which we see Him. If the heart is not pure, the Great Spirit cannot be seen. ”
I’m sitting on the subway train reading a book: The Afterlife of Billy Fingers by Annie Kagan. I notice a man walking, singing a song! He’s getting closer to where I sit. Suddenly, I’m sensing a tingling sensation in the middle of my chest. Taking a deep breath, closing my eyes to tune in better, and observe the experience. The energy intensifies, and it’s moving away from my body, reaching out towards the gentleman. An incredible sense of peace, joy, connectedness and absolute love fills my heart… towards a stranger I’ve never met. It feels so pure and serene; He’s getting off the train but this intoxicating, loving energy is lingering all around. Taking in all the bliss… What an experience! It rendered me speechless because it came out of nowhere, yet it left such a profound energetic imprint. I wasn’t in the midst of meditation, trying to align or open my heart center, neither was I getting an energetic session. It happened, just like that, in wild New York City! Couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day.
In words of Ramakrishna “The supreme purpose and goal for human life…is to cultivate love”. What a beautiful goal to strive for. Leading with a heart, living from heart-centered consciousness is a journey worth embarking on but not one without challenges. It requires vulnerability, Herculean consistency in one’s endeavors, and being authentic, raw and unabashedly bold. The Heart center has been talked about in metaphysical circles for centuries and thought to be a gateway, a place connecting heaven and earth; a mediator between the physical and spiritual, between the body and the spirit. The Heart is a powerful symbol known to many religions. Many authors, teachers, modern-day mystics call it by many names: “the seat of the soul” (Gary Zukav), “the central powerhouse of the human energy systems” (Caroline Myss, Ph.D) or “chalice of both joy and sorrow” (Donna Eden). Heart Chakra is a seat of unconditional love, wisdom, compassion, and joy.
In my own personal experience, I found pure heart energy emanating out of the field to be the most transformative alchemical experience. The power of the heart just blows your mind. Having experienced something so profound grants deep insights that no amount of books read ever will. There is one thing to understand something intellectually, yet another to feel it and integrate it within one’s heart. An open heart allows us to feel interconnected with all of life, earthly, and cosmic. One develops a strong kinship with creatures of all kinds: two-legged, four-legged, crawlers, and swimmers, All That IS. There is a sense of unity, solidarity with all. The door to unconditional, boundless love is through the heart; it simply cannot be ignited by the mind; the mind does not speak the language of the heart. Yet, for a long time, we have thought mental energy to be better, superior if you will, to emotional energy. This is not the case! According to Heart Math Institute:
"The heart is, in fact, a highly complex, self-organized information-processing center with its own functional "brain" that communicates with and influences the cranial brain via the nervous system, hormonal system and other pathways. These influences profoundly affect brain function and most of the body’s major organs, and ultimately determine the quality of life."
“The heart is the most powerful generator of rhythmic information patterns in the human body. ... the heart is uniquely positioned as a powerful entry point into the communication network that connects body, mind, emotions and spirit.”
The capacity to experience such profound love for all and be open to all life has to offer is an attribute of a balanced/open heart center or as HMI coined it “a coherent heart”. HMI has been doing an incredible work to show us scientifically when we feel emotions of love, appreciation, kindness, compassion and joy, our heart sends a different message, which results in harmony and coherence in heart rhythms. Mystics, sages discovered this heart wisdom a long time ago. It’s great though to see the bridge emerge between science and spirituality.
Research from Heart Math Institute indicates that:
“When heart rhythm patterns are coherent, the neural information sent to the brain facilitates cortical function. This effect is often experienced as heightened mental clarity, improved decision-making and increased creativity. Additionally, coherent input from the heart tends to facilitate the experience of positive feeling states. This may explain why most people associate love and other positive feelings with the heart and why many people actually "feel" or "sense" these emotions in the area of the heart. I believe our collective journey back to the heart has already begun. Hearts are awakening. The energetic stage has been set up even though the world may not be reflecting it on a big scale. In the words of Matt Kahn:
“We do not look at the worldly affairs to know where the vibration of the world is going. We look at only our behaviors, our responses, our perceptions to worldly affairs to tell us where the vibration's going because we are the ones bringing this energy to the planet. So If you look at worldly affairs, you're looking at a planet that's preparing to receive the energy you're not embodying yet. ... You can't look at the world to see where things are, you only look at yourself.”
We decide, moment-to-moment, in which direction we want the world to go. Love or fear, separation, or unity? You decide! I already have. Open your heart to love, radiate it outward and watch the walls of fear, separation, illusion dissolve right in front of your eyes. Embody love in action, every day of your life, for the rest of your life. Honor your Heart & allow its light to guide you! Your path will be illuminated in ways you never imagined.
